The Secret Sisterhood of Heartbreakers

The Secret Sisterhood of Heartbreakers
Author: Lynn Weingarten
Published: December 27, 2011
My Edition/Pages: ARC Paperback/352

Title Thoughts: Fitting
Cover Thoughts: I really like it. It has a magical way about it.

Goodreads:
When her boyfriend breaks up with her on the first day of sophomore year, Lucy has no idea how she’s going to make it through homeroom, let alone the rest of her life. Enter three stunning girls with a magical offer Lucy can’t refuse. All she has to do is get a guy to fall in love with her in the next seven days, and then…break his heart and collect one of his brokenhearted tears. As the girls teach Lucy how to hook a guy (with the help of a little magic), she quickly discovers how far she is willing to go—and who she is willing to cross—to get what she wants.

This was just not a book for me. From the start, I didn't like Lucy. She seemed obsessed with her boyfriend and her love for him didn't seem real for me. That said, I decided I would still give this book a chance. I kept on truckin' hoping I could dive in and at least like this book. I really like the idea of the book, but I didn't like any of the characters.

Characters are very important and if I can't even like one of them, then I'm not going to enjoy the book. That is precisely what happened here. I didn't like the characters and that kept me from enjoying the book. Honestly, I'm surprised I was able to finish the book. There were many times when I just wanted to put it down and quit. Something inside me said, "No. Keep reading and see if things improve."

While there was nothing wrong with the writing, as in the simple art of writing, I didn't like everything else that goes into my enjoying of one's book. Would I read another Weingarten book? 'Course. I would give one of her books another chance.

Addict's Last Words: Remember this: Just because a book didn't work for me, doesn't mean that it won't work for you. You can order a copy at Amazon, Books-A-Million, Barnes and Noble, IndieBound, or The Book Depository.

To Buy or To Borrow: Borrow. I only want to keep books that I enjoy.
